Christening celebration ideas with little ones
Christening receptions bring together a wide age range, often in a hall or family home, and often just after a service that has already used up the children's patience. A quiet corner for the youngest guests changes the whole afternoon.
Give the little ones their own corner
A soft play area at one end of the room lets babies and toddlers play safely while the adults eat, talk and take photographs. It also keeps small children away from buffet tables and hot drinks.
A neutral grey and white setup blends into a christening's usual palette rather than fighting with it.
Plan for the quiet moments too
Speeches, cake cutting and photographs are easier when there's somewhere for restless toddlers to go. Position the play area within sight of the main space so parents can watch without leaving.
Keep the food simple
A buffet with a few toddler-friendly options usually works better than a sit-down meal — children can graze between play, and nobody is stuck at a table.
