Indoor birthday party ideas for toddlers
Indoor parties are the sensible default for little ones in the West Midlands: no weather worries, no long drive and everything within arm's reach. The trick is filling the space in a way that keeps toddlers busy without turning the house upside down.
Start with one clear play zone
Toddlers gravitate to whatever is biggest and softest in the room. Clearing one area — usually the lounge or a hall — and filling it with a ball pit, step and slide and padded shapes gives the party a natural centre of gravity, and keeps small children away from doorways and stairs.
Everything else can then be simple: a food table on one side, coats and bags out of the way, and adults with a clear line of sight across the room.
Keep the schedule short
Two hours is usually plenty for under-fives. Arrival and free play, food, cake, then a last burst of play before pick-up is a rhythm that suits nap times and keeps the mood happy.
Save any structured activity for the middle of the party, when everyone has arrived and settled.
